Deluxe Pente, Family Strategy Game for 2-4 Players, Ages 8+

Deluxe Pente is a fast-moving game of skill for 2 to 4 players, originating in the 1970s. This sleek strategy game resembles checkers in its ease of learning and simplicity, plays like a sophisticated tic-tac-toe, and yet approaches chess in its tactical depth and wonderful variety. Players must be the first to place 5 stones in a row or to capture 5 pairs of their opponent's stones in order to win the game. There are multiple variations available for greater challenge and complexity.

This deluxe version of the game comes with a roll-up Pente game board (with rubber backing), 4 sets of colored glass stones (blue, green, clear, and amber), four cloth drawstring stone storage bags, and illustrated instructions. Recommended for ages 8 and up.

The game was invented by Gary Gabrel while working as a dishwasher at a pizza place in Stillwater, Oklahoma, and it went on to become one of the best-selling games at Parker Brothers in the 1980s.

Pente is a rare, awesome 2-player strategy game that is equally enjoyable with 3 players or teams of 2. The board is made of mouse pad-like material and rolls up for easy storage and transportation.

Players take turns placing one stone on the board at a time, with the objective of either getting 5 stones in a row or capturing 5 sets of their opponent's stones. Capturing opponents' stones is often easier than getting 5 in a row, and it occurs when a player surrounds 2 of their opponent's stones on both sides.
